SOCHI REALITY...

HOW SOON WILL WE SEE DAILY FORD FART REPORTS...

...decibel reading, odorous level, etc.?

 Touch my monkey. Overtly.

Rob Ford, when asked if he would be attending this year's pride parade in Toronto, said "I'm not going to go to the pride parade. I've never been to a pride parade. So I'm not going to change the way I am."

Uh-oh:
The mayor's remarks prompted criticism from the public and at least one fellow city councillor -- Shelley Carroll -- who accused him of "thinly veiled homophobia."
Helen Kennedy, the executive director of Egale Canada, strongly disagreed with this assessment:

"There's nothing 'thinly veiled' about it. It's overt homophobia."
Sure. And refusing to watch Jersey Shore reruns is overt heterophobia.

*Yawn*.

“I don’t want a black history month. Black history is American history,” says Morgan Freeman.

This month, you will see no shortage of functions organized by historical societies, libraries and schools. You may even catch the corporate giants sponsoring short vignettes on black history, or perhaps a rerun of Amistad, Roots or Malcolm X.

It’s Black History Month.

Global rally for LGBT equality hits Russian consulate

On the eve of ceremonies to mark the beginning of the Winter Games in Sochi, some 100 demonstrators gathered outside the Russian consulate on Bloor Wednesday night to protest Russia's anti-gay laws. The crowd grew as it later marched down Church to the Ryerson University where the event came to end. Russia's shame is global. More than 60 countries on the planet still have laws criminalizing homosexuality.

Alternative Federal Budget 2014, striking a better balance

Feb 7 2014

| It delivers a plan that would lift 855,000 Canadians out of poverty, reduce income inequality, boost the economy, and lower unemployment to 5.4%.

IT IS OBVIOUS...

...we are not doing enough and/or many of those we trust to spend our resources wisely are inept and/or self serving!

U of T: Millions of working Canadians struggle to afford food, aboriginal and black households hardest hit

Four million Canadians, including 1.15 million children, are living in households where it is sometimes a struggle to put food on the table, researchers at the University of Toronto have found.

And most of those households are sustained by working adults - including self-employed, salaried and hourly workers.

Nearly one in eight households is affected by food insecurity, which is defined as inadequate access to food because of financial constraints. At its mildest level, food insecurity means worrying about feeding yourself and your family before your next paycheque. As the problem gets worse, people can’t afford to have balanced meals.

Then they begin to skip meals, cut portion sizes and eventually go days without eating, all because they can’t afford the food they need. Those affected often face physical and emotional hardships which compromise their health.

The study was led by U of T’s Valerie Tarasuk and her team at PROOF, a research project that identifies effective policy interventions to address household food insecurity.

Building on a report they released last year, the team analyzed municipal data for the first time. Researchers found Halifax had the highest incidence of food insecurity, with one in five households affected. It was followed by Moncton, Guelph and Barrie.

The report continues to chart some disturbing trends across the country. Food insecurity has persisted or grown in every province and territory since 2005; 2012 rates in Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, Quebec, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, Nunavut and the Northwest Territories were the highest since Health Canada began monitoring the problem.

The team also discovered that 28% of black and Aboriginal households reported some form of food insecurity — more than double the national average.

Must not joke about unisex bathrooms

The leader of the Utah Senate and another state lawmaker are apologizing Monday after tweets sent from their accounts that morning were criticized as homophobic and insensitive.

Senate President Wayne Niederhauser says an intern whose job includes tweeting on the senator's behalf used the platform to direct jibes at Lehi Republican Rep. Jake Anderegg.

Anderegg earlier on Twitter joked he considered switching his gender identity in order to use an unoccupied women's restroom. The tweet referred to another lawmaker's proposal that would bar transgender students from using the bathroom they prefer but would require schools to make another restroom available should the student's family request it.

Both lawmakers apologized Monday after criticism from LGBT rights advocates and others. Anderegg in a tweet called his prior comments "totally inappropriate."

DIVERSITY RUNS AMOK...

George Jonas; (link fixed)
It was in the past 40 years that the immigrant of dubious loyalty emerged, followed by the disloyal native-born, sometimes of immigrant ancestry, sometimes of Islamic conversion. The new immigrant seemed ready to share the West's wealth but not its values. In many ways he resembled an invader more than a settler or an asylum-seeker. Instead of making efforts to assimilate, the invader demanded changes in the host country's culture.
Democracy, Immigration, Multiculturalism -- pick any two.

h/t Victor M.

Multiculturalism has encouraged a new type of immigrant who shares our wealth but not our values

George Jonas speaks in plain language.

"It was in the past 40 years that the immigrant of dubious loyalty emerged, followed by the disloyal native-born, sometimes of immigrant ancestry, sometimes of Islamic conversion. The new immigrant seemed ready to share the West’s wealth but not its values. In many ways he resembled an invader more than a settler or an asylum-seeker. Instead of making efforts to assimilate, the invader demanded changes in the host country’s culture. He called on society to accommodate his linguistic or religious requirements.

In 1985, a Sikh CNR railway worker refused to exchange his turban for a regulation hard hat. This was innocuous enough, but in 1991, less innocuously, a newly appointed Toronto police board commissioner of Asian extraction declined to take the traditional oath to the Queen."

Don't ever be afraid to call things by their true name. The Multicultural Kool-Aid is poison, don't drink it.

FINALLY...

YNoKyoto: Bombs Away

 At last.

The Canada Revenue Agency is currently conducting extensive audits on some of Canada's most prominent environmental groups to determine if they comply with guidelines that restrict political advocacy, CBC News has learned.
If the CRA rules that the groups exceeded those limits, their charitable status could be revoked, which would effectively shut them down.
[...]
The list of groups CBC has now confirmed are undergoing audits reads like a who's who in the environmental charity world. They include:

The David Suzuki Foundation
Tides Canada
West Coast Environmental Law
The Pembina Foundation
Environmental Defence
Equiterre
Ecology Action Centre

"This is a war against the sector," says John Bennett, of Sierra Club Canada.

Don't Blame Karl Marx, Blame the Idiots Who Believed Him

Only a madman's illusions de grandeur could result in killing more people during peace time than Nazi's did purposely during war. You can compare similar people's implementing Marxism vs. freedom (the Koreas, East vs. West Germany, Cuba vs. Caymans, etc.). And you can look to see what happens when countries abandon socialism in pursuit of capitalism (China, Vietnam, the Baltics). But the real issue isn't what a "moron" or "psychopath" Marx was. It isn't even the devastation and poverty his cancerous and flawed "theories" has wreaked upon the world.

It's the scary fact as to just how receptive humans are to such a stupid, and ultimately, dangerous and evil ideology.
