Come On People-Sanctions Against Foreign Terrorists Lessened

Why can't we do the same for home grown "terrorists"? But this begs another question...why aren't we being fair and applying the same rules against the terrorists in Caledoniq?

VANCOUVER–An elderly environmentalist who has already spent more than two years in jail for anti-logging protests was handed a 10-month sentence for criminal contempt of court yesterday.

Betty Krawczyk, 78, was involved in protests last May against highway construction through the Eagleridge Bluffs in West Vancouver, where the road is being upgraded for the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In repeatedly protesting, she breached a court order to cease and desist her highway protest.

B.C. Supreme Court Justice Brenda Brown ruled last month that Krawczyk's breach of a court order concerning the highway "was open, continuous and flagrant."

Brown sentenced Krawczyk as supporters demonstrated outside.

A large cross-section of young and old, including aboriginal people and environmentalists, showed their support for her.

About 120 protestors stood in the rain yelling "Shame, shame, shame" and holding signs that read "Free Betty," as police and sheriffs stood watch around the downtown court building.

After the sentencing, about 18 people staged a sit-in of the court foyer, where they munched granola bars and drank bottled water.
