COPS HUNT FOR CYCLES, THIEVES

Hamilton police are asking for help in finding a stash of 99 pocket motorcycles stolen last month. The plea comes a day after York Regional Police reported 22 were stolen from a hobby shop in Newmarket. In the Hamilton break-in, $30,000 worth of Tsunami bikes still in crates were taken. Anyone with information about the Hamilton break-in is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

JAIL FOR SEX ASSAULTS

SUDBURY -- A 63-year-old Espanola man is headed to jail for the maximum two years less a day for assaulting young girls. Richard St. Jacques pleaded guilty in December to indecently assaulting three young girls in the early to mid-1960s and in the late 1970s to the mid-1980s. He initially faced a dozen charges involving five children.

LAWNS TO GO DRY

WATERLOO -- Residents of Waterloo Region will be banned from watering their lawn more than once a week in the summer. Regional councillors voted 11-5 yesterday to make temporary lawn-watering restrictions permanent. "We need to move to a culture of conservation," said Councillor Sean Strickland.

HELP FROM YOUTUBE?

HAMILTON -- Hamilton Police are tuning into YouTube again to solve a crime. A video clip of a man being robbed of his business receipts outside a Royal Bank of Canada branch on Queenston Rd. on Jan. 18 has been uploaded on to the web site. The video can been seen on youtube.com, using keywords "Hamilton police robbery".

CRASH KILLS DRIVER

LINDSAY -- A Fenelon Falls man was killed after the car he was driving hit the rear of a snowplow Monday. Anthony Shone, 49, was taken to Lindsay hospital and pronounced dead after the 11:30 a.m. crash on Northline Rd. near Kawartha Lakes Rd.
