Jack Layton makes an announcement, but almost no one is around to hear it
On a cold and wet and grey Saturday morning, about 15 minutes before he was due to outline his federal budget demands, NDP leader Jack Layton came strolling up the stairs of Toronto's Convocation Hall, dragging his luggage behind him. A short while later his wife, NDP MP Olivia Chow, arrived endearingly on her bike, fake flowers adorning the handlebars and a small red basket behind the seat.
