A Thoughtful Memorial

I wonder if someone would take on the task of painting gun ghosts at the sites where people have been killed due to gang violence......

THE DEVIL IS IN THE DETAILS

By Shawn Micallef

Ghost bikes Twenty-six cyclists have died in Toronto over the last 10 years in collisions, with many more injured. To memorialize their deaths and draw attention to how dangerous it can be to bicycle in the city, Geoffrey Bercarich, along with ARC (Advocacy for Respect for Cyclists), installs whitewashed “ghost bikes” at the sites of fallen cyclists. The memorials, “abandoned bikes,” are often removed by the city. Bercarich recently replaced the ghost bike at Keele and Finch, installed for Bianca Gogel, a 16-year-old killed by a turning truck last year.
