- Toronto mayor chooses sexual politics over kids' hockey
-
David Miller must be feeling pretty good about himself right now.
With a few words on CBC radio, the Toronto mayor managed to take a shortage of ice hockey facilities and turn it into an issue of sexual politics, gender inequity and anti-female discrimination.
Responding to a question about the difficulty girls' hockey teams have getting ice time at municipal arenas, the mayor declared that the city has a policy of equal access to city arenas and would strictly enforce it, even if that meant kicking little boys off the ice so little girls could play. Anything else, he said, would be "discrimination."
