Kelly McParland: Canada’s new super-union, up to the same old antics

Jerry Dias was elected the first president of the new Unifor union at a convention in Toronto.

Unifor is the name of an Italian company that makes furniture for “work environments” (i.e., the office). It’s also the unlikely name that two of Canada’s bigger labour organizations adopted when they merged, a marriage cemented on the weekend with a big rally and some traditional marching and chanting.
