I Know Recruitment Costs Are High.....

.....but considering these jobs are short term this seems a little ridiculous.

According to Christina Blizzard the costs to replace politicos at the provincial level were:

What I do have a problem with is what it cost to replace them all. According to Elections Ontario, the byelection that replaced Curling with Bas Balkissoon cost $516,218 — or $5.98 per elector. And the three byelections to replace the MPPs with federal ambitions cost a similar amount. Toronto Danforth cost $421,000 — or $5.75 per elector; Nepean Carleton cost $520,351 ($5.17 per elector) and Whitby-Ajax cost $468,436 ($4.73 per elector).

and while the cost per elector is relatively low we have to remember this is the cost per registered voter but when you consider that low voter turnout the cost is actually much higher.

But the bottom line is that IMHO persons running for public office should be expected to fill out their complete term and the only excuse for a by-election would be death although originally I was going to include things like alzeimers but when we examine the decisions coming out of Queens' Park being brain dead would seem to be a criteria for a liberal.
