The World Is Changing! Are We?

I personally don't think we are changing and in a sense it is because as Canadians (and to some extent Americans also) unless we are personally kicked in the balls (figuritively speaking) the smile never leaves our face. This might be in part due to the fact that we have never had to actually face the enemy on our streets and when we face domestic terrorism how do we react....look at our recent response at Caledonia or our pussyfooting around at Oka.

Maybe we can get some insight from Linda and Rondi.....

The `war on terror' will turn a generation of angry young men against the West, says Linda McQuaig

In the days after 9/11, Iranian president Mohammad Khatami condemned the terrorist attack and reached out to the West to fight terrorism together.

On a practical level we are safer, but that doesn't mean we should let up on terrorists, says Rondi Adamson

If only because more of us are aware, we are safer than we were five years ago. Five years ago, many might have thought Kandahar was, as a New Yorker cartoon weeks after 9/11 suggested, a famous racehorse. "Caliphate" was a word from high-school history class.
