It's a (stupid) man's world
... which is why women in politics have to endure so many cheap shots
By Lorrie Goldstein
Okay, let's see if I have all this straight.
Over the past few weeks:
According to Alberta Premier Ralph Klein, Belinda Stronach never had a Conservative bone in her body, except for Peter MacKay.
According to Norman Spector, Brian Mulroney's former chief of staff, Stronach is a "bitch" for breaking up ex-Maple Leaf enforcer Tie Domi's marriage.
According to an exchange between Liberal MP David McGuinty and Foreign Affairs Minister Peter MacKay in the Commons, Stronach is a "dog."
According to a Canadian coalition of otherwise oh-so-politically-correct environmental groups, and Liberal MP John Cannis, Environment Minister Rona Ambrose spends too much time fussing with her hair.
Meanwhile, in the race for the leadership of the Liberal party, there's only one woman left, Martha Hall Findlay.
Despite the fact Liberals across the country agree she's a smart lady and a true Grit who has run a solid campaign, she's made almost no impact on delegates heading to the leadership convention in Montreal later this month.
That's where the new Liberal leader will be chosen, largely via backroom deals made by men representing the four major male candidates.
So, okay, Ralph, Norm, David, Peter, John, Conservatives, Liberals, etc.
Explain to us again why women don't have a far tougher time of it in politics than men, and that there are no double standards when it comes to the sexes.
Let's admit it guys......

Lorrie Tears A Strip Off Male Politicos
It is hard to put forth the arguments like "if it is too hot get out of the kitchen" or "no one forced them to run" after ready Goldstein's column....it is embarassing and I have to share in that embarrassment. (But I did vote for Pittfield......)
