Why Doesn't Zaynab Khadr Emigrate

John Oakley: Selling out our sovereignty on the altar of multiculturalism
Back in the heady days of Soviet communism, Joseph Stalin liked to remind the West that America would sell him the rope that he would eventually use to hang her. In other words, Uncle Joe had it figured the United States would sacrifice even its security and national interests on the altar of capitalism.
As smug as some of us Canadians can be when it comes to the American experience, we are just as susceptible to the big sellout of our sovereignty and security when it comes to placing higher gods before the national interest. Like the lofty ideals of multiculturalism without assimilation, tolerance that allows for intolerance, and free speech that excuses sentiments bordering on treason.
Take the case of the notorious Khadrs from Scarborough, the so-called Canadian al Qaeda family, whose patriarch was killed fighting, us, our NATO forces in Afghanistan five years ago. With the case against 20-year-old Omie being dismissed Monday, his unrepentant 27-year old sister, Zaynab, brazenly defended bin Laden Tuesday on the Oakley Show, admitted she feels no loyalty towards this country, and in fact enjoyed more freedoms as a woman in an Al Qaeda camp.
Zaynab Khadr, like her siblings, is a Canadian citizen, just another handful of strands, perhaps fashioning a rope.

John Oakley can be heard from 5:45 a.m.-10 a.m. EST Monday to Friday on AM 640 Toronto Radio.
