Ontario's great scam revealed

The great thing about writing a national column for Sun Media is that you get to tell one part of the country when another part is scamming it.
So listen up, Albertans. Whenever Ontarians lecture you about not caring about the environment because you're developing the oilsands, here's what you need to know.
Ontarians (at least those who voted Liberal in last week's provincial election) have just elected a Liberal majority government whose environmental program is ... uh ... interesting.
Because Conservative Leader John Tory handed the election to Liberal Premier Dalton McGuinty by raising the explosive issue, in Ontario, of publicly funding religious schools, the environment was barely discussed during the campaign.
But just as Alberta's big contributor to greenhouse gases and pollution is oilsands development, Ontario's is the auto sector and coal-fired electricity-generating plants.
While McGuinty talks a good game on the environment, what he did over the past four years was to spend $500 million of public money to attract almost $7 billion of new auto sector investment.
