amazingly enough, there are a lot of programs that do work, but unfortunately, they don't tend to be headline worthy, and so likely wouldn't ever end up on your radar. While there are always a bad apple or 10 in any kind of organization anywhere, if we spent MORE time highlighting what works as opposed to painting a group of people as 'in activists' that would go a lot further towards helping. Have you every tried working on the front line? I have, and work is brutal, and the pay is terrible. Now I work in another industry and I make 3 times the money, for less than half the work.
