Nearly 200 children who participate in after-school programs at the Dovercourt Boys and Girls Club could be kicked out of their facility at the end of the month.

Demonstrators attended a loud rally on Saturday to protest the possible eviction of the west-end club.

For the last 10 years, at-risk youth have attended the facility at 21 Randolph Ave., near Dundas and Bloor Streets, to get help with their homework, receive counselling, play sports and socialize. For many kids, it's their only access to a computer.

"This is the centre of their world," said Tony Puopolo, who runs the club. "This is such a lifeline for these kids."

He says 50 per cent of the parents are single parents and they rely on the after-school support.
