Report-card bafflegab mystifies parents, hamstrings teachers

Tom Sullivan, unable to decipher the bafflegab on his grandson's report card, asked a simple question some months ago: why can't the comments on report cards be written in plain English?
.....but seriously it is probably because it seems our education system is geared to making kids feel good about themselves and forget the basic skills, reading, writing, arthemitic, they will need to survive.
