Being Held To A Higher Standard Is Justified BUT...

...this is used by many on the left, including the "media" to further their personal agendas.

There is a sad little ritual that plays out a few times a year after one of the senseless shootings that take place with dispiriting frequency in some of Toronto’s less-advantaged neighbourhoods.

Some dolt, or group of dolts, demonstrate their manliness by firing off an illegal handgun. The bullet flies off wildly and hits an innocent victim: a woman in her kitchen, a child in the back yard, an elderly person on the sidewalk. The neighbourhood expresses its outrage that such things could happen and complains at the failure of police to protect them. The police appeal for local assistance in identifying the shooters. No one comes forward. The police decry the fear that prevents witnesses from declaring themselves, noting earnestly that justice is handcuffed when responsible citizens refuse to do their duty out of fear of the consequences or some misplaced sense of loyalty to the transgressor.
