* as a substitute for social contacts face to face (facebook)
* a vehicle for venting their thoughts when they are banned from Timmies
(twitter)
* a microscope examining traditional media and pricking the balloon of pomposity (blogs)
* trying to maintain a semblance of sanity (old fart safety valve)
