Two Points Of View...

...personally if I was a member of the gay cabal and whether Ford marches or not is such a big deal I would move the parade to another city possibly Hamilton or Barrie. Close enough to Toronto so that tourists coming to the city, specifically for the parade. would still pump up the Toronto economy.

Is Anyone Surprised?

Ford to be a no-show at Pride

...if nothing else you have to give him credit for not kow towing to the gay community and trying to solicit their votes.

Should Mayor Rob Ford change his plans and attend the Pride Parade on July 3?

Homophobia...

...and it is irrelevant that the facts are correct and that this more about political correctness than medical priorities.

HIV/AIDS gets way too much money

Michael Fumento writes:

Nor is it even an epidemic. U.S. AIDS cases peaked 17 years ago...

Yet HIV/AIDS will receive over $3 billion in the 2011 federal research budget.

We spend 21 times more per AIDS death than cancer death. Pancreatic cancer will strike about 43,000 Americans this year and is essentially a quick death sentence. It gets one percent of the funding per death as AIDS.

Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, are the nation's sixth and 14th-leading causes of death respectively, yet HIV/AIDS gets 34 times and 25 times more per fatality respectively.

the Outcome Of A Two Tier Society...

The police protect the "lawbreakers" because of politicians not having the balls to stand up to designated groups when they break the law; indian sitins and occupations, obscene acts during Gay Pride Parade, protest marchers impede drivers and pedestrians, illegal actions on reserves, etc.

Caledonia crisis of facts

By PETER WORTHINGTON, Toronto Sun
In an extensive interview in the Toronto Sun, OPP Commissioner Chris Lewis not only defended police actions (inactions?) during the 2006 Caledonia crisis, but says there were also great successes that are never talked about.

I Don't Think Earle Is In The Running...

...as The Marshal in Toronto's Gay Pride Parade! But seriously will it become necessary for people attending comedy venues have to fill out a form indicating enthicity, sexual preference, etc. so they won't be offended or maybe Human Rights Tribunals can issue labels that comedians must display.
Anybody looking for news on the Guy Earle trial, somebody has begun a Guy Earle Trial blog. So far it’s a complete resource on what’s happening at the trial. Today, complainant Lorna Pardy gave her version of events. This after Earle’s lawyer,  James Millar, walked out on the tribunal, citing it as “an illegal proceeding against the rule [...]

Paul Russell: Homosexuality, Rex and sin splits readers
Posted: January 16, 2010, 12:37 PM by Paul Russell

Sexual orientation is one of those hot button issues that always brings in passionate letters. That subject was broached last week by John Moore in his column “The Seeds of Hatred,” where he attempted to show how prejudice against gays can lead to death in some Mideastern and African countries.

“It’s time for good Christians to stand up and condemn those amongst them who actively or tacitly contribute to the promotion of hatred,” read his closing paragraph. “Even if that means providing comfort to homosexuals.”

At least a dozen readers let us know that their view of Christianity (sometimes summed up by passages such as, “Thou shalt love thy fellow man as much as thyself,” Matthew 22:39) doesn’t encompass gays.

“Homosexuality, like murder, like adultery, like theft, is as much a sin and is just as subject to God’s righteous hatred and wrath as any other sin, regardless of what people like Mr. John Moore have to say about it,” wrote Steven Eleftheriadis. “Nor does the Lord somehow separate the sin from the sinner ... [T]he Lord hates sinners.”

A Gay Mayor? Hmm! Good Or Bad Thing...

...in retrospect a non-issue. Look at how well San Fransico has done. But does labelling him "gay positive" mean that he is negative about the other 95-97% of the voters in Toronto?

Wait, Adam Giambrone is gay? Actually, he isn't

Local weekly Now magazine has been forced to change a story in which it predicted that popular local politician Adam Giambrone would become Toronto's mayor in the New Year.

While the young city councillor is considered a dark horse for the mayor's chair, the magazine's retraction had more to do with sexual politics than with the local variety.

In the article, which hit the streets on Thursday, Now wrote that Giambrone had a good shot at the mayor's chair because: "He's young. He's bright. He's gay. And he looks better than any of his challengers so far."

Later on Thursday, however, Giambrone set the record straight on his Facebook page: "Amused but not entirely surprised to learn in NOW Magazine that I'm supposedly gay."

Giambrone went on to write that he has "great relationship" with the gay community in Toronto, but: "so as not to mislead anyone, I should correct the record: I'm not, in fact, gay. Sarah, my partner, has taken the news in stride (and) with good humour ..."

After Giambrone made the comment, Now changed the story on its website to read that Giambrone is "gay-positive."

Gay? Not NOW, not ever

Someone's "gaydar" must have been broken.

How Do We Label The Citizens Of Maine Who Excercised Their Democratic Rights?

I thought that gay marriage was a given and while I don't recall seeing it on a ballot in any of our elections in Canada to me it is a non-issue.

Gay leaders blame TV ads, Obama for same-sex marriage loss in Maine; conservatives rejoice

November 04, 2009

SAN FRANCISCO - Stunned and angry, national gay rights leaders Wednesday blamed scare-mongering ads - and President Barack Obama's lack of engagement - for a bitter election setback in Maine that could alter the dynamics for both sides in the gay-marriage debate.

Maine joins 30 other states in voting down gay marriage
Posted: November 04, 2009, 4:00 PM by Araminta Wordsworth
Full Comment's Araminta Wordsworth brings you a regular dose of international punditry at its finest. Today: The anniversary of Barack Obama's election produced complaints that he hasn't fulfilled many of his promises, including to gay Americans. But presidential power only extends so far, and, given the opportunity, Americans keep voting down measures to allow gay marriage. On Tuesday, Maine joined the list.

Electors flocked to the polls, surprising state officials who were expecting a low turnout — organizers had to send emergency supplies of photocopied ballots to satisfy demand. Residents approved tax increases and loosening the rules governing medical use of marijuana: Maine is one of only 13 states that allow the drug to be used in this way, along with California.

But in another parallel with California — and probably the reason for the high turnout — they drew the line at gay marriage, voting to reject the same-sex marriage law passed by lawmakers.

Opening Closet Doors Becoming Closet Industry

Despite Hollywood’s reputation for being a liberal hotbed, some stubborn forms of prejudice persist, such as the lingering notion that it’s a potential career-killer for certain high-profile types to come out of the closet. Luckily, those who are willing to try have at least one industry expert ready to give them a hand with the press, the public and their risk-averse bosses.

Last word: In the final analysis this blog is a relief valve for my rants/raves.
