...but pass legislation/bylaws that would mandate the licencing of cyclists and their vehicles plus extend the HTA items related to safety, insurance and consumption of alcohol to cyclists.

Not Every Seperated Father Is A Deadbeat Dad!
...but it seems like the bureaucrats, family courts and the government think so.

Ontario’s plan to begin impounding the cars of fathers who fall behind in their child support payments next month has a familiar ring to it. I’ve heard of a very similar story before. The man’s name is Jeff Dolan, and his case should ring alarm bells for any Ontario politician considering linking driving privileges to child support.
Jeff’s story is as depressing as it is worrisome. His wife left him soon after he lost his job when the construction industry in his native Minnesota bottomed out. He moved from job to job, trying to earn enough to meet his child support obligations and pay for needed medical treatment, but with no jobs available, he fell behind in his payments while volunteering at a sexual violence clinic and looking for stable work. He finally landed a good job, one that would allow him to make his payments and also included medical benefits. But then the courts caught up with him and, since he’d fallen behind in his payments, stripped him of his license. A valid driver’s license was a condition of his new job, which he then lost. I Support This NDP Bill
For servers, not owners
People leave tips in restaurants as a thank you for good service and in recognition that the servers, who are usually paid a low hourly wage, rely on tips to supplement their incomes. Tips generally aren’t intended for the owner or manager. But, unfortunately, that’s just who receives a significant portion of the tips in some restaurants.
In an effort to ban these “tip-outs” to owners and managers, NDP MPP Michael Prue has introduced a private member’s bill in the Ontario Legislature. And, in an rare show of unanimity at Queen’s Park, representatives of all three political parties spoke favourably about the bill as it was given second reading last week.
The bill would not affect the more common practice of servers sharing a portion of their tips with fellow workers who assist them, such as busboys and bartenders.
It is difficult to gauge the extent of tip-outs to restaurant management, but there are troubling indications that the practice is growing as businesses struggle with the economic downturn and try to recoup some of their costs due to higher minimum wages. Passing Prue’s bill would put a welcome brake on this practice.
