Something That Is Not A Constitutional Right? Amazing!

Section 23 of the Charter guarantees funding for minority-language schools “where numbers warrant.” Now a group of francophone parents in Vancouver is suing the city’s francophone school board and the province’s ministry of Education, asking them — in effect — to fund French-only schools even where numbers do not warrant them.
Fed up with their children’s long bus rides to Rose-des-Vents primary school and discontent that the younger grades must share facilities with a high school, the parent advisory council has filed a petition in B.C. federal court demanding improvement of the facilities at the school to stem “an exodus of kids” to the English school system.
