TRUDEAU SCREWED MORE THAN ONE CHARITY ?
Bedrock Liberal insiders tell Bourque they are furious. First, it was the $20K paid by a money-losing New Brunswick seniors charity. Then it was $7K from a Saskatchewan literacy conference. But, really, how many groups and associations were there in total ? And what's a Member of Parliament doing sending out five-figure invoices for his myriad natterings in the first place ? Says a suddenly contrite Trudeau mere days after his political office said he would categorically refuse to repay the $20K, "I am going to sit down with every single one of them and make this right .. I'm willing to pay all the money back". Trudeau claims he's earned a whopping $1.3 million in speaking fees to date. It remains unclear what percentage was paid by groups who could ill-afford to do so. It also remains unclear how Trudeau would go about repaying what may or may not amount to hundreds of thousands of dollars in dubious fees. As one longtime Trudeaumaniac in a state of aroused honesty put it, 'how can you justify ripping off a bunch of old people ?' Another eons-long Liberal wondered if Trudeau 'will compensate Parliament for missing official House business to earn big bucks on the side.' And then what to make of the down-east'er who emailed mid-afternoon to bluesky what might have been had party animal Dom Leblanc not been cowered into burying his own leadership aspirations last year. Add to these the party backroomer with multiple election cycle wins to his credit who wonders about the people around Justin. "They should have shut this one down minutes after it arose", he said, "36 hours of confusion - sheesh, you can lose an election in all that time".
