TORONTO - A “deal with the devils” to end a riot at the Don Jail Sunday has the correctional officers’ union warning it’s only a matter of time before a guard is taken hostage or killed.
And a correctional officer on the scene says a soft, negotiated agreement to end the uprising, has hung them out to dry among a “brazen” jail population.
With “no charges” being laid against inmates who tried to take control of 3C Unit at the Don Jail, guards say they have been left with little power over the inmates.
“The negotiations began almost four hours after this ordeal began and unofficially ended around 8 p.m. after they had made a deal with the inmates to surrender and no further action would be taken,”
