I am quite sure it is more than 700 but the the fact that such a small number made a decision impacting on all the residents just reflects the attitude of many Torontonians...turnout for elections support my position.

It's weird to think that people with brains the consistency of headcheese are spending today making it clear to people who don't care that the 40th anniversary of the moon landing is a false celebration.

People who deny the holocaust are just simple-minded racist pricks. People who deny the moon landing are just poseurs. "Whoo...I took two years of communications at Humber College and I'm not convinced NASA succeeded". Yawn.

Yeah the whole experience in the 1960's seems unlikely in today's world of cell phones and laptops. In 1969 most people watched the moon landing on old CRT televisions with 13 channels on their ugly dial tuners.

The most pressing issue of the day is this horrifying news that Hamid Karzai is trying to win over the Taliban by signing into law several articles that restrict women’s rights in clear contravention of the constitution’s equality between the sexes. The law would enact a Wahhabist-style of law under which women would be unable to leave the house without permission from their husband, and make marital rape legal. The United Nations Development Fund for Women warns that the law grants custody of children to fathers and grandfathers in the event of disputes as well.

Canadian Arab Federation President Khaled Mouammar is under some suspicion, now that the National Post has revealed that when he was on the Immigration and Refugee Board, all Arabs that came in front of him were allowed into the country.
Khaled Mouammar is the patriarch of a family of radicalized Palestinians. His daughter supports the "No One Is Illegal" movement that aims to remove all immigration restrictions, and was named a leader of the infamous Concordia riots of 2002 that forced the cancellation of a speech by Benjamin Netanyahu. Khaled Mouammar himself wrote approvingly of the Syrian occupation of Lebanon, and in support of Hezbollah.
Concerns about his suitability for the IRB were first raised on this blog in 2005.

The claim that history is written by the winners doesn’t apply to Canada. Our history is written by the whiners. This week’s cancellation of the re-enactment of the Battle of the Plains of Abraham at Quebec City is another lamentable moment in the troubling politicization of Canadian history.
Quebec separatist groups, some making vague threats of violence, expressed outrage over plans for the 250th anniversary of the most famous battle ever fought on Canadian soil. Any recognition of the fact the English won the Battle of Quebec, effectively ending French rule in Canada, is seen as a “humiliation” by hard-core separatists and evidence of “federalist propaganda.” The National Battlefield Commission, which administers the park, dutifully cancelled the re-enactment to avoid offending anyone.
