Sportsmanship! A Poor Tribute For The Canucks...

Brian Hutchinson: Blood on the streets after Vancouver loss

VANCOUVER — The season ends, and the worst does come to pass. Vancouver, you have lost. Twice. But the game hardly matters now, does it? The score? Who cares? As I write this, my eyes are stinging, my is throat sore, having breathed in some sort of dispersal chemical that police deployed — in desperation, and perhaps too late. There could be some residual effect from having inhaled acrid, toxic smoke from burning cars, exploding cars, destroyed by lunatics still running crazy on the city’s downtown streets.

Blood in our streets. I saw people on the ground, bleeding. Shattered glass everywhere. Police cars set alight. Major bridges are now closed, preventing public access into the downtown core. Transit is plugged up, there’s no way out. More police and fire crews are arriving, from the suburbs, but again, it seems too late.

And as I write this, the sun has just set. Vancouver, what a disgrace.

Gary is taking it to extremes for effect...
Berry:Fans hold answer to NHL violence

When you’re dealing with someone who’s 6’9″, it’s not often you get to feel very high and mighty. But there’s no question that Zdeno Chara’s turnbuckling of Montreal Canadiens’ winger Max Pacioretty has left the Boston Bruins behemoth looking awfully small. When your best possible defence to very nearly breaking someone’s neck is that you didn’t really mean to, people are going to get on their high horses. As with any form of unimpeachable moralizing, though, those high horses are leaving a sizable trail of excrement behind them.

By far the largest pile belongs to the Quebec prosecutors who recommended a criminal investigation and the Montreal police that are following up on that suggestion. Either both have some die-hard Canadiens fans in uncomfortably powerful positions, or they’re both in desperate need of a cheap public relations boost, because there is no other reason to suggest why this is any of their business whatsoever. Common Sense Returning To Ameteur Sport?

Coach reinstated after protest over racial slur

NOT Items Ford Needs To Put On His Plate...

More anti-Toronto discrimination

If you add Chantal Hebert‘s column today (Where are the big-city women mayors?) to the Star’s discovery last week that Toronto goalies are being discrimnated against by the NHL, you get this inescapable conclusion: There is not a single Toronto woman playing goal in the NHL.

Makes you think, eh?

CONGRATULATIONS AND MORE POWER! To The Bull...

George Jonas: The wisdom of a Spanish bull

  August 21, 2010 – 7:58 am

Spectators try to escape after a bull leapt into the stands during a 'recortadores' competition in Tafalla August 18, 2010. At least 40 spectators were injured on Wednesday after the bull jumped into the stands during the competition, in which young boys run before the bull trying to avoid being caught.

It takes intelligence to identify root causes. If you poke young dogs with a stick, they’ll lustily sink their canines into it. They think what’s attacking them is the stick.
Experienced dogs recognize that the enemy to snap at is the hand holding the stick. Or even better, the ankle — say, of the village postman who carries a stick for protection. There’s a human ankle at the root of every poking stick. They’re easy to reach even for small dogs, and send the enemy hopping. A Maltese Silk Pincher I knew, maybe five pounds sopping wet, could make postmen hop every time he felt like it. He often did.
Sticks test canine IQs. When poked, dumb dogs go for the stick, smart dogs for the hand, canine Einsteins for the ankle. Dogs graduating to flock-guarding duty in the Carpathian Basin are ankle nippers. For a smart nip on the ankle, shake a stick at a yappy kind of sheepdog called a Puli. Better wear sturdy boots. Since the entire dog is just a black bundle of ropey hair, you can’t tell the biting end from the other.
Bulls aren’t as smart as dogs. This single factor is responsible for the development of Spanish culture — well, maybe not Cervantes, but the part that’s based on tauromachy.

About Me

My photo
I lean to the right but I still have a heart and if I have a mission it is to respond to attacks on people not available to protect themselves and to point out the hypocrisy of the left at every opportunity.MY MAJOR GOAL IS HIGHLIGHT THE HYPOCRISY AND STUPIDITY OF THE LEFTISTS ON TORONTO CITY COUNCIL. Last word: In the final analysis this blog is a relief valve for my rants/raves.
