The shame of St. Clair

Joe Mihevc's Project Execution caused hundreds unemployed residence of St.Clair and several small business closures. To make everything worst all those welthy and well to do Liberal Leftist Brain-Dead Pinkos RE-ELECTED Mr. Joe Mihevc of St.Clair for other 4 years."

Mayor Ford Message To Stintz...

...tell TTC Management and beauracrats to priortize this long outstanding issue and have a solution, cost and implementation date no later than Dec. 24th or expect Santa to handout pink slips. The 12 scond delay excuse shows that this problem has been studied to death and the former TTC chair Mihevic was more interested in the St. Clair Right of Way debacle and the 12 second delay would be offset by the riders on St. Clair getting a 3 minute reduction.

Bureaucratic fear
Re “TTC stalls bus stop for Variety Village,” (Mike Stobel, Dec. 16): The TTC’s actions on this issue are reprehensible. A 12-second delay is nothing, and given the reason, there would be no complaints. The TTC has lost its perspective in bureaucracy and is using expedience and expense to delay, assuming the issue is a flash in a pan that will disappear. Well, it won’t go away. Where is the strong TTC administrator prepared to do what is right — to stand up and take action by putting in a temporary bus stop at the front door of Variety Village now and debate a permanent stop at a later time. Of course, bureaucratic fear prevents immediate action. The TTC continues to hit those who are emotionally and physically challenged. Somebody needs to put on a heavy pair of boots and start kicking butt at the TTC.

(Why make any stops at all? That would eliminate all delays)

Shocking arrogance
Re “A kick in the teeth” (Dec. 16): Way to go Mike Strobel, for an excellent column about the Variety Village bus stop madness. The sheer arrogance and lack of compassion shown by TTC brass is shocking, yet not completely unexpected. Perhaps the much-needed stop would have been implemented promptly if someone in TTC administration had a disabled child.

Mark Chisholm Aurora

(Doubt it. Strobel rightly describes them as “heartless”)

Twelve seconds?
So, no bus stop at Variety Village because it would add 12 seconds to the trip (“A kick in the teeth” Mike Strobel, Dec. 16). I wonder how long it takes to install and remove a bike from the bike racks on the front of the bus, that is if anybody ever uses those things? I guess the TTC is only “essential” to some.

(How come everyone except TTC brass seem to understand the right thing to do?)

Councillor Joe Mihevc is turning his back on Joe Pantalone, instead endorsing George Smitherman for mayor. (7)

Pantalone shocked by Mihevc's 'incomprehensible' decision to support Smitherman

...Pants has to appreciate that Mihevic's decision might have to do with Pant's height. Mihevics decision imight be  based on the fact he doesn't want to expend additional energy to bend over further to kiss butt than he has been doing over the past four years.

Toronto's field of dreams, er, weeds

Councillor Cesar Palacio calls it the Field of Weeds.
The Davenport councillor met with City of Toronto officials Thursday for a walk along the St. Clair Ave. streetcar right-of-way to point out deficiencies in the multi-million-dollar project.
While the right-of-way was originally supposed to cost $48 million, the cost has soared past $100 million.
“And this is what we have to show for St. Clair,” Palacio told the Sun Thursday as he pointed to dead trees in the new sidewalk and around the new streetcar stops.
But it’s not just the dead trees scattered along the right-of-way from the St. Clare Catholic Church near St. Clair Ave. W. and Westmount Ave. to the Joseph J. Piccininni Centre further west along the street near Caledonia Rd.
Palacio wants the city’s technical services department to return the area outside the community centre back to the manicured gardens that were there before the construction.
“The public was promised all of this,” he said. “It’s a total disservice to the community...this is supposed to be the jewel of the crown in our community.”
Palacio said the community should look like it is “once again open for business” but that’s not the message residents get when they see overgrown and unweeded gardens outside the community centre.
“People are upset and angry, and rightfully so,” he said. “At this point there is no way to be accountable, that’s my frustration.”
Steve Adams, manager of TTC and special projects for the city’s Technical Services Department, did not return an interview request Thursday.

A Photo Op For Mihevic But...
