Nova Scotia MP charged with 'ageism'

The Canadian Association of Retired Persons is calling on Liberal MP Robert Thibault to retract his comments suggesting his 60-year-old opponent is too old for the job.

The agency says Thibault's remarks this week about Greg Kerr, his Conservative opponent in the Nova Scotia riding of West Nova, were tainted with "ageism."

"Ageism seems to be the final frontier of acceptable discrimination. Imagine if Mr. Thibault had said: 'He's too black for the job,' " the agency's vice-president, Susan Eng, said Thursday in a news release.
