Government don't create jobs and usually their job training programs are one or two cycles behind what is occurring in the marketplace.
Workers aren't flocking to retraining program
A much ballyhooed program to retrain laid-off manufacturing workers has filled just 5.5% of available spots and may need to be changed, Premier Dalton McGuinty said yesterday.
"We've only had 1,100 folks sign on so far," McGuinty said of the Second Career jobs program, meant to accommodate up to 20,000 workers.
"Maybe we should be making some changes to make it more attractive."
