A woman protests on Aug. 3 as New York City's Landmarks Preservation Commission rules in favour of demolishing a 152-year-old building, potentially clearing the way for a controversial Islamic centre.
The lower Manhattan mosque has provoked many doubts and suspicions. Here’s mine: the whole thing is a phony-baloney publicity stunt by a developer in search of project financing.
Maybe an old joke about the development industry can set the stage:
A developer bursts through the door of the office bubbling with good news for his partner: “Hey Sheldon — I had to look at photographs of old man Weinstein’s grandchildren for two hours, but we’ve finally got a deal. He agreed to sell us the Maple Street land assembly, and I knocked the price down to $20-million!”
Sheldon answers: “That’s fabulous news — great work — congratulations!”
“Yeah, well there is some bad news too. He needs $10,000 in cash.”
OK, bear that in mind as you read this very important report by Isabel Vincent and Melissa Klein in the New York Post.
The site for the proposed Cordoba Islamic Center is now occupied by two buildings on Park Place in New York: one the now-famous Burlington Coat factory; the other an adjoining property that used to function as a Con Edison substation. The mosque developers are often said to own both buildings. That turns out to be not exactly true.

I Can Empathize But...
...one of the major concerns is the proximity and this could be considered ludicrous because putting forward this argument would mean that you couldn't build a Catholic church in proximity to a school, a German delicatessen in proximity to synagogue, etc. BTW where there no Muslims in the 3000 people killed?

So far, no Ivy League profs have responded to Rosie O'Donnell's royal command for an explanation from physics experts,but scientific mag “Popular Mechanics” does in their March 30 article. They don't wear elbow-patched tweed coats, but hopefully she will consider them authoritative. Last week, while discussing her pet 9/11 conspiracy theories, Rosie O’Donnell issued an imperial demand that someone “(g)et a physics expert here from Yale, from Harvard. Pick the school!” to explain how, in addition to other wacky ideas, “for the first time in history, steel was melted by fire,” causing World Trade Center Tower Seven to mysteriously collapse.

There Are Two Facts That Cannot Be Disputed
1) Two aircraft crashed into the towers.
2) Over 3000 lives were lost.
These are the two critical facts and no matter what this new "study" finds, unless there are people alive, who can be identified as being participants and questioned, the how cannot be proven beyond a shadow of a doubt so what is the purpose of this exercise other than to feed the conspiracy frenzy.
Independent Investigators Release Suppressed Blueprints of Destroyed World Trade Center Tower

Scans of original drawings of the North Tower of the World Trade Center have been published online by a coalition of independent 9/11 researchers and journalists.
Berkeley, CA (PRWEB) March 27, 2007 -- A coalition of independent 9/11 investigators and journalists today announced the online publication of a set of original blueprints of the North Tower of the World Trade Center. The set is composed of over 200 never-before-published drawings, including plans, elevations, and details, given to physicist Dr. Steven E. Jones by an individual interested in a more complete analysis. Groups presenting the plans include Scholars for 9/11 Truth and Justice, 9-11 Research, and Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth. A multi-resolution drawing viewer for the blueprints is located at 9-11 Research.
Richard Gage, AIA, Architect, the founder of Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth, said, "We cannot truly understand what happened in these historical structural failure events when we are not allowed access to the construction documents." Gage believes that, given the profound differences in the official collapse theories, the need for more investigation is clear. "First they come up with the "pancake theory", then they changed it to the "column failure theory". We don't believe that either of those theories are supported by the available evidence."
Since the 9/11 attacks, numerous groups and individuals have challenged the official explanation that the Twin Towers experienced total structural collapse due to a combination of aircraft impact and fire damage. Challengers assert that the WTC Towers were destroyed by pre-planted explosives, rather than fires and impact damage.
"The only theory that is supported by the evidence is controlled demolition with explosives," Gage says. "You could never get a collapse event of that speed through 80 floors of intact steel structure. The laws of physics simply don't allow it."
The most recent version of the official explanation has been supplied by the three-year multi-million-dollar study of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), which abandoned the earlier truss-failure-based "pancake" theory proposed by FEMA's 2002 Building Performance Study in favor of a theory of "global collapse" induced by a chain of events including impact column damage, dislodging of fireproofing, floor sagging, and "column instability".
