Hudak Is Going To Have To Get His Act Together...

Blizzard:

Yikes! Dalton McGuinty promises more

Yes, the man who brought you the health premium and HST says he’ll keep doing what he’s doing

Top 50 list of Dalton McGuinty's Broken Promises

Would-be Tory candidates muscled out by Hudak favourites

2011/05/18 18:50:56

Would-be Progressive Conservative candidates are being flatly told to hit the road to make way for hand-picked favourites, the Star has learned.

...hopefully these "handpicked" choices have charisma and know how to kick leftwing ass. Lord only knows McGoonty has supplied a lot of ammunition consisting of broken promises, boondogles; ie: Ehealth, sex education, greening, etc.

Time Left Wing Nutbars Apologized To Mike Harris

These nutbars are still blaming Harris and claim Harris' cuts caused most of our problems but it appears this is just so much bullshit especially when you look at the figures for health care.......

Quote:

Bob Rae's NDP government, (who were instrumental in ordering the study into under utilization of hospitals and this study recommended hospital closures upon which Harris acted) 15 years ago in 1992, spent a then-record $17.5 billion on health care. His and subsequent governments continued to pour more into the system. By 2007, health ministry spending on hospitals, doctors, nurses, long-term care homes and other services had more than doubled to $37.5 billion and almost $1 billion more is spent on health infrastructure.

Over the same period, Ontario's population grew from 10.5 million to 12.8 million -- an increase of only 2.2 million people, or 18%.

Patients are noticing. A recent SES-Sun Media poll found that despite increased spending of almost $9 billion over the past four years, most voters believe the health care system is the same or worse than when McGuinty's Liberals came to power in 2003. If you can't find a doctor, get stuck with your kid or a parent for hours in an emergency room, or have to travel punishing distances for treatment, especially in rural areas and the north, you're likely to feel the system isn't working.

End of Quote

For rest of the story........

And I will bet you will find similar facts about education spending. And as far as downloading to municipalities just think about how the federal liberals were able to able achieve surpluses. Martin did it by cutting transfer payments to the have provinces at a time when Harris was trying to clean up the mess left by Bob Rae and the ndp.

Harris Bashing Has Become A Blood Sport

Columnists like Carol Goar seem to gloss over the fact that the actions of provinces were precipitated by the slash and burn tactics of the federal liberals and their need to lower debt. In the case of Ontario, the reduction of transfer payments coupled with the near bankruptcy of the province by the ndp under Bob Rae, meant hard times for us and a lot of Ontarians understood this and gave Harris two majorities. Broken promises by McGinty and a lack of fiscal responsibility by Miller keep getting laid at the Harris door.........

Tax cuts at root of budget crisis
July 20, 2007

The first alarm bells went off 12 years ago. But they were faint and distant.

In New Jersey, one of the richest states in the U.S., municipal property taxes were rising rapidly. Mayors were complaining bitterly.

Governor Christine Todd Whitman was a year into her aggressive tax-slashing program. Her aim was to cut state income taxes by 30 per cent in her first term of office.

But as the state's taxes went down, local levies went up and municipal politicians faced outrage from hard-pressed ratepayers.

That was the year Mike Harris, the newly elected premier of Ontario, launched his Common Sense Revolution, pledging to chop personal income taxes by 30 per cent.

It took longer for pain to filter down to the municipal level in this country, partly because of differences in the structure of government and partly because Harris and his colleagues undertook a massive reorganization of local services that threw everybody's books into disarray.

When the confusion subsided, city officials realized their costs were galloping ahead of their revenues. They accused Harris of shortchanging them, dipped into their contingency reserves, delayed sewer, water and road maintenance, hiked user fees and cancelled discretionary programs.

Reviewing Safe Schools Act

The school shooting death of Jordan Manners is poised to put a sharp point on current deliberations at Queen's Park on proposed changes to the Safe Schools Act (SSA). The act, brought in by the Harris Tories, was meant to clarify that certain student misbehaviours would earn specific punishments, including mandatory expulsions for the most serious offences

Mike Stafford On Mike Harris

I think the one thing Stafford's comments point out is that unlike McGinty Mike Harris kept his promises and love him or hate him he was consistent. If making a comment like "Get those f*&$ing indians....." was an indictable offense the majority of people would be facing an inquiry.

Best of the blogs
What's hot and on the web

You've heard Mike Stafford on AM 640. We've brought him into print by showing you his blog from yesterday (640toronto.com):

I've had a love-hate relationship with former Premier Mike Harris for years. I loved the fact that he drove special interest groups crazy. I wept tears of joy at some of the teacher protests I covered live at Queen's Park. There's nothing funnier than being called a "fascist" by some bearded guy in a Tilly jacket because I worked for "the Harris media."

The left-wing Toronto news media had a field day. Sudden rainstorms were blamed on the Harris government.

But after five blunder-filled years of the NDP, the Harris machine looked like a Ferrari next to the Rae Hyundai. They worked their mandate, did their press conferences and ignored the whining of the pissed-off left in the wake.
