Iggy Is An Expert When It Comes To Recognizing CONTEMPT...
...and his tutors were Trudeau, Cretin and his party over the last couple of decades.
Rex Murphy: Liberals hope to sell a civics lesson as a campaign theme
Why are we having an election? According to the Liberals, it’s because Stephen Harper is choking Canadian democracy, and, most of all, because he treats Parliament with contempt. That’s ripe from the Liberal party. When it enjoyed unrivalled electoral sway, as it seemingly did forever, it inscribed the A in Autocratic. It was led by Pierre Trudeau, who thought so much of Parliament that he described its elected members as “nobodies.”
When last in power, the Liberal party went on for a full year about fixing the parliamentary “democratic deficit” without of course actually doing anything about it. Any party with Jean ChrĂ©tien at its helm for 10 years knows more than a little about playing roughhouse with the House of Commons, and has grown totally comfortable with the art of neutering its own backbench. It’s because of this history, as much as anything else, that the Liberals’ claim that the election is about restoring democracy has no force behind it. Read More »

Nuts Don't Fall Far From The Tree...
Barbara Kay: Trudeau the multiculturalist walks into trap of his own making
An updated government information pamphlet for newcomers to Canada, “Discover Canada,” warns against such “barbaric” practices as honour killings, forced marriages and other immoral or criminal practices. Federal Liberal Immigration critic Justin Trudeau yesterday made it known that he is “uncomfortable” with the word “barbaric.” “You could say it’s absolutely unacceptable as a phrase,” says Trudeau, adding that the word could have the effect of making newcomers “defensive.”
Reaction from the blogosphere, as well as from Conservatives, to Trudeau’s reflexive political correctness was swift and uncompromising. Immigration Minister Jason Kenney responded that the language in Discover Canada is deliberate and accurate. “There’s nothing more brutal than killing a woman because of some perceived slight to family honour,” Mr. Kenney observed. Only In Canada You Say....
Canada, the world’s most easily offended country
You may have noticed the global snort of derision when it became known that Money For Nothing, a 25-year-old Dire Straits song written by Mark Knopfler and Sting, has been ruled too offensive for Canadian radio play.
What’s interesting, apart from the simple lunacy of suddenly banning a tune that’s 25 years old and has already been played about a billion times, is the reason: A radio station in St. John’s received a complaint.
That’s all it takes in Canada: One person to take offense. Read More »

Conrad Cuts Thru The Crap...
Conrad Black: This is Canada’s moment, despite our minor flaws
Pierre Trudeau's era marked the height of Canada's self-destructive political correctness, argues Conrad Black.
In an updated edition of his book The Trouble With Canada, William Gairdner laments the prolonged pandemic of political correctness that afflicted Canadian public policy for decades, starting with the Pearson government (1963-1968), and cresting with the long regime of Pierre Trudeau that ended in 1984. During that time, Canada moved from a generous welfare system that provided an effective safety net but that unambiguously incentivized work, to a system that multiplied publicly lamented categories of victimhood and transformed the safety net into a hammock. The new raison d’ĂȘtre for Canada was to be more caring and sharing than the Americans, and to care extravagantly enough for Quebec to buy its adherence to Canada. Read More »

Exploitation Can Be Defined As The PET Con Job...
...which promised and delivered a cradle to grave mentality not only among Canadians but the concept is part of the newcomer, immigrant/refugee, playbook where Rule 1 is play the bigot card if you don't get a place at the trough.
Newcomers exploiting the system
By MINDELLE JACOBS, QMI Agency
Anyone who dares suggest Canada’s immigration system is overly generous, easy to abuse and frighteningly unmonitored is automatically deemed a bigot in certain circles.

That's Been My Contention For Years...
...it is easy to be popular and a hero of the downtrodden when you create a cradle to grave mentality on the backs of the middle class.
Lorne Gunter: Trudeau’s impact is obvious. It’s also mostly bad
Gary Hershorn / Reuters
Pierre Trudeau died 10 years ago this week, so of course the tributes and legacy analyses have been coming thick and fast. Among my favourites was offered up by Chantel Hebert, one of the few people worth reading at the Toronto Star.
Well, I have one, too. But unlike most commentators, I come to bury Trudeau (or at least make sure he’s still buried), not to praise him.
While he certainly had a profound impact on Canada, it was mostly destructive. Even the few positive changes he made might be called inevitable; they were the type of changes that were coming to every western society by dint of cultural evolution anyway. Read More »

Cradle To Grave
Why Canada became a welfare state
