Is there the political will to deal with poverty?

Thanks to NDP MPPs Cheri DiNovo and Jonah Schein for caring about the fact that people are forced onto the streets or to choose between shelter and food

The proroguing of the legislature is one more sign that this Ontario government, just like the Harris Tories, has no concern whatsoever for the poverty it helped to create.

I wonder what the chances are that with or without the proroguing, the McGuinty Liberals would have acted on any recommendations of the Social Assistance Review Commission.

Dalton McGuinty’s pot promise

As Dalton McGuinty brings his 16 years of leadership of the Ontario Liberal party to an end (NOW, October 18-24), people will remember many things about him.

What I remember most is that 15 years ago he expressed his support for the decriminalization of marijuana. (See NOW’s archives, October 16-22, 1997, page 23). Yet he was never able to do anything about it.

It’s too bad.

About Me

My photo
I lean to the right but I still have a heart and if I have a mission it is to respond to attacks on people not available to protect themselves and to point out the hypocrisy of the left at every opportunity.MY MAJOR GOAL IS HIGHLIGHT THE HYPOCRISY AND STUPIDITY OF THE LEFTISTS ON TORONTO CITY COUNCIL. Last word: In the final analysis this blog is a relief valve for my rants/raves.
