Another Tier Added To Our Justice System

We already have a two tier justice system where indians can break the law and be exempt from laws that the remainder must follow plus they are sentenced under a different system and now we are are extending similar rights to ILLEGAL immigrants. Toronto police, in an effort to get community co-operation, are instructed not to ask people their immigration status and now a group wants this extended to the education system. What part of ILLEGAL is not understood?

Group demands Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy on immigration status

A small but vocal crowd demonstrated outside the Toronto District School Board last night demanding that children in Canada illegally be allowed to attend school without police or immigration officers being called.

The group and their supporters have been calling for a Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy, in which school officials won't ask or reveal the immigration status of students.

"All children have the right to go to school," Sima Zerehi, of No One Is Illegal Toronto, told the 50 supporters. "I was one of those people. I know how it feels."

Zerehi said the policy is expected to be adopted by the board in September.

"There appears to be some foot-dragging," she said. Zerehi said the policy can affect thousands of the 80,000 people living in Toronto with immigration problems.

"Children shouldn't have to be afraid to go to school," said Judith Rae, of the Immigration Legal Committee.

Steve Watson, of the Canadian Auto Workers, which supports the policy, said schools shouldn't be for police or immigration agents. "Schools are for kids and teachers," Watson said.
