TEACHER CHARGED WITH SEX ASSAULT

A gym teacher at a Brampton junior high school is facing numerous charges stemming from allegations he sexually assaulted students.

Peel Regional Police say an "extensive investigation" was conducted after two girls at Robert H. Lagerquist Senior Public School complained they were assaulted between May 2005 and June 2006.

Michael Plews of Hillsburgh was arrested yesterday.

TEEN RECRUITED INTO SEX

A 24-year-old Toronto man is accused of recruiting a 15-year-old girl he met at a mall for prostitution.

Police claim the accused befriended the girl and then forced her to work specific hours on a designated corner after instructing her on how much to charge for various sex acts. Police allege the man beat her when she "failed to meet his assigned nightly dollar quota."

Ottis Quashie Thompson is charged with seven assorted child prostitution offences.

CHILD PROSTITUTION RAP

A man is facing numerous charges for allegedly forcing a 14-year-old girl to work as a prostitute for him.

Toronto Police allege the victim was recruited by the accused after they met through "a friend of a friend." They claim the accused arranged all of the girl's clients and venues, and told her how much to charge. She also was allegedly supplied with drugs.

Robert Wilson, 26, of Toronto, is charged.

PARK NAMED FOR VICTIM

Murder victim Kempton Howard's name will live on in the city's park system.

Eastview Park, located in the Danforth-Jones Aves. area., will be renamed after the slain youth worker on Mother's Day -- May 13.

Howard, 24, was shot dead in his apartment building in December 2003.
