Read The Label Before You Buy

But you will be hard pressed to find a Made In Canada label even if you were willing to pay a higher price.

While factories close, governments sleep

Can manufacturers compete if they are based in Canada? The competitiveness scorecards produced by the Canadian Chemical Producers Association show that many of the key business indicators, such as energy costs, taxation and regulation are getting worse, and the business case for investing in Canada is rapidly declining.

Our analysis shows that governments are part of the problem with respect to manufacturing job losses. Attempting to pick winners, or running after company executives after a plant-closing announcement is not the way to create industrial policy. We have also learned that investor confidence has two components.
