TTC is essentially ours
At least that's what the public thinks. Mayor Miller and his minions think otherwise
Downtown dweller Edwina Taborsky echoed my thoughts exactly yesterday when she articulated why the TTC should be declared an essential service.
Taborksy, who leaves her car regularly at home, choosing to take transit or walk, said the TTC is a public entity owned by Toronto taxpayers and subsidized by the commuting public and therefore should be accountable to them.
Instead, she said, the TTC's union members and the elected councillors (that is the socialist regime of Mayor David Miller) have shifted the TTC's focus to themselves.
"This sense of accountability and public ownership has slithered away and the focus has moved to some kind of power transaction between the union and councillors (the mayor and his minions)," said Taborsky, part of a Citizens' Advisory Group struck by councillors Cesar Palacio and Cliff Jenkins.
