Should We Question CBC Impartiality?
...it is a crown corporation, funded entirely by the taxpayer and when push comes to shove it meets two of it's primary objectives; protecting the french language across Canada, most of which is English speaking and bring Hockey Night In Canada to remote parts of the country.

Was Christie Blatchford unfair to skewer the Layton ‘canonization’?

De mortuis nil nisi bonum. This Latin phrase, meaning “Say nothing but good about the dead,” broadly sums up scores of letters that came in this week. Specifically, these notes critiqued Christie Blatchford’s Tuesday column about Jack Layton, titled, “It’s fitting his death is a public spectacle.”
Unlike other columnists, Ms. Blatchford didn’t allow the emotional impact of the NDP leader’s death to cloud her image of the letter he was credited as writing on his deathbed. In her words, “it’s remarkable because it shows what a canny, relentless, thoroughly ambitious fellow Mr. Layton was … the letter is full of sophistry … [it] is vainglorious too.”
This assessment brought in hundreds of angry notes, either as comments on fullcomment.com (the blog of the National Post comment pages) or to the Letters mailbox. Many of these notes evidently were written from the heart.
“I know Christie Blatchford’s job is to criticize and create controversy,” wrote Sharon Griffin. “But couldn’t she have taken at least one day off, out of respect? Read More »

NO! The World Is Pretty Well The Same...
...but technology, the media, bloggers, etc. are utilizing a worldwide platform to put forward rhetoric that not too long ago was restricted to a soap box in a park or a public square or Timmies.

Coren: World gone mad?
We cling to an island of truth and sanity in a sea of hatred, lies, confusion, and sheer stupidity.
A good example is beauracrats sending out language police to ensure everyone is providing service in english/french when in reality this foolishness is mandated for government bodies it has no place in the private sector...you don't provide/speak one of the two "official" languages I can protest by not leaving my $$$ in your place of business...

Coren: Hypocrisy and News of the World
It’s been interesting to read various people who know little of Britain try to explain Britain and British culture to Canada.
They’re trying to do this, of course, because of the hacking scandal, the demise of the News of the World, and the threats posed to media mogul Rupert Murdoch and his newspaper and television empire.

Barbara Kay: Alice Walker and Gaza, a hypocrite on an hypocritical mission
Acclaimed novelist Alice Walker, author of The Colour Purple amongst many other successful works, is a participant in the flotilla that will attempt to break Israel’s naval blockade of Gaza.
Like all the other hypocrites on board the ten ships in the convoy, she is justifying her actions on the grounds that Gaza is desperately short of necessities and requires humanitarian aid – not true, nobody in Gaza is going hungry, and many people in Gaza are waxing more prosperous by the day – and that there is no other way to get humanitarian aid to Gaza except directly – also not true, since Israel is perfectly willing to receive their supplies through an Israeli port, where triage can be done to separate innocent goods from possible arms, and transfer them to Gaza. Where Are The Leftwing Media On LAYTON"S Hidden Agenda?
FP’s Terence Corcoran: Jack Layton’s hidden agenda
With the NDP’s public election platform already packed with more than 200 extreme, unworkable, radical and mostly undesirable promises, it might surprise some to learn that Jack Layton’s current power trip packs at lot more baggage under the floorboards.
How much more can there be? They’ve got plans for what amounts to a 10¢-a-litre cap-and-trade tax on gasoline, doubled pension plan contributions, corporate tax increases, plus a long list of plans and schemes to newly regulate pharmaceuticals, banking, oil, food, telecom, railways and many other industries. As for monetary policy, not mentioned in the platform but recently the subject of comment, Mr. Layton says that he wants to maintain an “arm’s length” relationship with the Bank of Canada, although he apparently at the same time intends to jawbone the bank over interest rates and the value of the dollar. More "Much Ado About Nothing..."
The $12.4-billion transit plan unveiled by the city and Queen’s Park Thursday is another example of Mayor Rob Ford doing what he said he would do.
...but the leftwing "media" gives you this:

Any chance this is an April Fools Day Contribution?
Come on folks it is a give away paper that caters to a segment of the population and seems to generate it's income mainly with advertising for the "sex trade" and this ssuehighlights their concern that the left wing in-activists in the city are fearful they will lose their place at the public trough.
Anyone recall them lapooning Comrade Miller and his cabal; ie: Vaughan, Ray, Mihevic, McConnell, Fletcher, et al. in a similar manner?
And let's not forget their contribution to solving homelessness...the paper is used for insulation of their clothing during the winter months.

Tasha Kheiriddin: Political murder happens everywhere
In the wake of the assassination attempt on United States Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, commentators are predictably pointing fingers. Americans, we are reminded, stockpiled guns after President Barack Obama came to power. Failed Tea Party candidate Sharron Angle talked about using “Second Amendment remedies” in the run-up to the 2010 mid-term elections. Former Vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin had Ms. Gifford’s constituency “in the crosshairs” on her web site. And so on. To hear many pundits tell it, particularly those on the left, murder is but the tragically logical extension of an overheated, gun-happy body politic.
Not so fast. It would be neat and tidy to blame this tragedy on America’s love affair with firearms or its current state of partisan polarization. But the sad reality is that the assassination of public figures is hardly unique to the United States. Read More »

Holy Mackeral Andy...
...someone in the mainstream media has had "the balls" to actually spellout the Nword...nigger. Two generations now know what the Nword spelled and as of 12.24PM on Sunday, November 9, 2001 the world has not come to an end and the blacks in North American have not taken to the streets although if they wanted to do so to protest the replacement word "slave" I would support them.
Globe Editorial
Huckleberry Finn: The problem of that word
To delete the word “nigger” from its 200-plus appearances in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain, and replace it with “slave,” is to evade the problem of education. It is to falsify a world as a precondition for teaching about it. Jan 08, 2011

John Sewell, cop hater: Grant
By Gary Grant
Former Toronto mayor and local crank John Sewell’s attack on the police isn’t constructive criticism or well meaning. It is just a long-time cop hater being a cop hater.
Questions for police over budget
The Toronto Police Services Board has put off making a decision on the force’s ever-expanding budget after Mayor Rob Ford’s allies questioned the cost of the second-most expensive agency in the city
...the police budget could be reduced if the Mayor tells the Toronto Police Services Board to get our of the social welfare business and concentrate on crime; ie: murders, attacks on citizens, Gangstas, drug dealers, etc.

2. To Carl Benito’s wife: I blame you for not paying your husband’s taxes, the worldwide economic downturn, and Canada not winning a security council seat at the UN.
3. To Rahim Jaffer and Helena Guergis: Way to make us read 20,000 stories about you this year. Those are hours of my life I’ll never get back. Read More »

The Islamists attempt to write Judaism out of history
A 'moderate' outrage
Heinrich Himmler Head of SS and close colleague of Amin Al-Husseini, financed and established Islamic Institute (‘Islamische Zentralinstitut’) in Dresden under the Mufti. The purpose was to create a generation of Islamic leaders that would continue to use Islam as a carrier for Nazi ideology into the 21st century.
