NO! The World Is Pretty Well The Same...
...but technology, the media, bloggers, etc. are utilizing a worldwide platform to put forward rhetoric that not too long ago was restricted to a soap box in a park or a public square or Timmies.

We cling to an island of truth and sanity in a sea of hatred, lies, confusion, and sheer stupidity.
A good example is beauracrats sending out language police to ensure everyone is providing service in english/french when in reality this foolishness is mandated for government bodies it has no place in the private sector...you don't provide/speak one of the two "official" languages I can protest by not leaving my $$$ in your place of business...

Minor Inconvience? Matter Of Personal Circumstances...
...I am a senior on fixed budget and do 95% of my financial business on line but an emergency arose which was greater than the resources in my emergency/rainy day fund and I cannot make a claim because hardcopy documents have to be presented and the company I am dealing with is not located in Toronto. Minor inconvience? But it raises the question of what do I, and probably many other seniors, do without until we can make our claim.

The government's missing a good opportunity to allow more private competition in mail delivery.
For the life of me, I can’t understand why the Conservative government wants to involve itself in the Canada Post lockout. There are far more benefits from not getting mixed up in the dispute between the dying Crown monopoly and its overpaid workers.
Almost no one cares that the mail is not being delivered. So there is little to be gained politically from passing back-to-work legislation, unless the government is looking to defuse an ugly situation before it becomes ugly (although there was no indication the postal lockout would ever have become ugly).
No doubt there are small businessmen and women (and some large businesses, too) whose invoices and payments have been disrupted. I also know a woman who is impatiently waiting for word from an exclusive pre-school about whether her progeny has been accepted. And our kids are waiting for tickets to an event that may already have occurred by the time the tickets arrive.

How can we accept teens being gunned down outside their homes as normal?
...lukewarm support for police, promoting police as social workers rather than law enforcement, putting police under the racial profiling microscope, $$$ for basketball courts/at risk kids, giving communities a free ride on co-operating with police, etc, etc.

This video from Michael Coren's show, courteously uploaded by Matt from Mississauga, is focused on recent happenings in America. Carefully listen to Toronto Newstalk 1010's Britt Aharoni and you will hear a deep seated antipathy, if not hatred, for U.S. conservatives and libertarians, that rivals another Big Smoke "journalist" named Heather Mallick. Ms. Aharoni is completely blind to anything untoward that might possibly come out of the mouths of someone on the Left side of the political spectrum.
Do you think Bob Rae's recent comment about Jihadists working in PM Harper's office offended her? Unlikely. Do you think Mass. Representative Mike Capuano's recent calls for violence against Tea Party members gave her pause for thought? Unlikely. Do you think that the campaign of vilification against Jews raged by the man to her right, the despicable Sid Ryan, has kept her awake at night? Unlikely.
Ms. Aharoni is typical of the vast majority of members of Canada's Mainstream Media who deem themselves to be "liberals". In their newsrooms, cocktail parties, and other bubble chambers they repeatedly tell each other how righteous and free thinking and unbiased they are. The reality is far, far afield from such group think delusions. This is a huge reason why an ever increasing number of Canadians feel alienated from them and no longer take them seriously.
As 2011 unfolds and a possible federal election campaign transpires, keep very clear in your mind that Britt Aharoni and other close-minded clones like her are the ones filtering the "news" you'll be getting from Canada's MSM. The Truth Is Out There but it sure ain't comin' from them!
