Expect the Expected
Just over a week ago Anne Marie Waters, a Council Member of the National Secular Society, was scheduled to give a talk at Queen Mary University of London as a Co-Spokesperson on behalf of the anti-Shariah group One Law For All. You'll never guess what happened next:
Before (the talk) started, a man entered the lecture theatre, stood at the front with a camera and filmed the audience. He then said that he knew who everyone was, where they lived and if he heard anything negative about the Prophet, he would track them down. The man also filmed students in the foyer and threatened to murder them and their families. On leaving the building, he joined a large group of men, apparently there to support him.
Campus security to the rescue!
He said: 'If you have these discussions, what do you expect?'
Well, in any country anywhere in the world with a substantial Muslim population you can expect to be hung out to dry by politicians and law-enforcement officials. Would-be speaker Ann Marie Waters - who is courageous by virtue of even attempting to speak out against Islamist censorship and threats - seems just a half-step away from understanding that in the relativistic, equivocating West, front-line defenders of free speech are essentially on their own:
I am left wondering what exactly we could have done. I would love to say that we stood up to him and carried on bravely in a valiant defence of free speech, but it was a frightening experience and I know that people felt genuinely threatened and upset. In any case, is it the role of speakers and students to face off against potentially violent Islamists in defence of our free speech, risking our safety in the process?

Words and The State: 2011 Edition
Early last November, during a heated discussion with her fellow passengers on a crowded Wimbledon to Croydon tram, a grumpy and stressed 34-year-old former dental receptionist named Emma West proffered up some rather un-PC opinions about immigration and what she saw as the loss of Britain's identity. The single mother of two remained in her seat throughout, and issued no physical or verbal threats, but she complained - profanely - that Britain's identity has been lost due to excessive immigration (she singled out Poles, Nicaraguans, and "blacks"), and opined that these people should go back and "sort out (their) own countries."
She would soon pay a massive price for her expressions. At the time of the incident British Transport officers merely escorted her off the tram and waited with her for the next one, but when one of her fellow passengers posted a cellphone video (language warning) a few weeks later, a nationwide womanhunt commenced - even the leader of Britain's opposition Labour Party got in on the act, issuing an "important appeal" to track her down - and on November 29th West was arrested and charged with racially-aggravated harassment. Denied bail over fears of revenge attacks after her home address was circulated online, the distraught West was sent to a category A prison ("the highest security prison in England…for 'prisoners…whose escape would be highly dangerous to the public or national security') and her children were taken away from her by social services.Now infamous, West would become an entirely unwitting lightning rod for inflamed passions on both sides of the immigration debate. British journalist and CNN host Piers Morgan tweeted that she should be deported, scores of "anti-racist" online commenters called for her to be beaten and/or raped, and multiple death threats were issued. On the other side, anti-immigration proponents and white nationalists of all stripes appropriated her name and image, and practically deified her for her anxious outburst.
Tough gig for a single working-class mum with a history of severe depression.
One week after Emma West was arrested and jailed, four Somali-born Muslim women who had brutally assaulted a passer-by, kicking her bloody and unconscious while shouting "kill the white slag!" and "white b****!", walked free from court. Unlike Emma West, they had not been charged with any race-related offences.

“The smiles are because immediately prior to this photo-taking, Gary McHale had informed OPP brass that all 8 arrests had been illegal.
“He produced documentary evidence that 16 acres—including, by design, the very spot where he was arrested—of the 100 acres of what was formerly known as Douglas Creek Estates’ actually still belong to Haldimand County, not the provincial government.
(The McGuinty government’s solution to the land dispute was to buy all available lands with our money and then allow only natives on it).

1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation

This video from Michael Coren's show, courteously uploaded by Matt from Mississauga, is focused on recent happenings in America. Carefully listen to Toronto Newstalk 1010's Britt Aharoni and you will hear a deep seated antipathy, if not hatred, for U.S. conservatives and libertarians, that rivals another Big Smoke "journalist" named Heather Mallick. Ms. Aharoni is completely blind to anything untoward that might possibly come out of the mouths of someone on the Left side of the political spectrum.
Do you think Bob Rae's recent comment about Jihadists working in PM Harper's office offended her? Unlikely. Do you think Mass. Representative Mike Capuano's recent calls for violence against Tea Party members gave her pause for thought? Unlikely. Do you think that the campaign of vilification against Jews raged by the man to her right, the despicable Sid Ryan, has kept her awake at night? Unlikely.
Ms. Aharoni is typical of the vast majority of members of Canada's Mainstream Media who deem themselves to be "liberals". In their newsrooms, cocktail parties, and other bubble chambers they repeatedly tell each other how righteous and free thinking and unbiased they are. The reality is far, far afield from such group think delusions. This is a huge reason why an ever increasing number of Canadians feel alienated from them and no longer take them seriously.
As 2011 unfolds and a possible federal election campaign transpires, keep very clear in your mind that Britt Aharoni and other close-minded clones like her are the ones filtering the "news" you'll be getting from Canada's MSM. The Truth Is Out There but it sure ain't comin' from them!

But he is also a man of principle and a proud American who only wants the best for his country. Thus, when he saw what was happening this past week, he decided he had to speak out against it. Vehemently! More here.

He's thrown support behind Saskatoon-Rosetown-Biggar MP Kelly Block's Bill C-575 An Act respecting the accountability and enhanced financial transparency of elected officials of First Nations communities.
Chief Bear joins the FSIN in endorsing Kelly's Bill.
Come on Mr. Ignatieff, Mr. Rae, let's all emulate these successful and prosperous leaders of the First Nations and push this though.

The place of worship is slated to be constructed a short distance from the site of the former World Trade Centre, destroyed nine years ago by terrorists in hijacked airplanes. Obama made the comments at a White House dinner Friday night, to mark the beginning of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month.
