Stranger Cleans City Under Cover Of Darkness
It's not often that you'd be happy to see a man who creeps around in the dark and is a self-admitted 'bandit'. But James Denny, who calls himself the 'Good Night Bandit', is a sight for sore eyes on many trash-strewn Toronto streets.
Denny, who was inspired by the City's 20-minute makeover project, decided to up the ante and spend the majority of the early morning hours bagging garbage. On the day CityNews caught up with him, he started working at 9pm, and put in a gruelling 12 hours on the job.
"I have plastic bags that I use to pick up all the garbage," he explains. "I've seen that David Miller was talking about...(cleaning the streets) for 20 minutes and I was sitting at home and I was thinking, 'What could one person possibly do?' So I figured I'd give it a try myself."
The ambitious Toronto man has hopes of one day meeting with Miller and possibly scoring a city job.
Until then, he'll be quietly making the city beautiful while you sleep. If you know of an area that needs a good cleaning, you can e-mail the Good Night Bandit at Peacefull_jamie_@hotmail.com.
