Canada's Saviour?

Toronto Star logic: (1) Barack Obama is black (2) So is Pinball Clemons (3) Pinball Clemons is Canada's Barack Obama!

From Edward Keenan's excellent story in the Oct. 27 edition of Eye Weekly:

Signs that Toronto editors are grasping to capture some US election magic (ahem) are omnipresent, nowhere more so than on the front page of yesterday’s Toronto Star, where a photo of Toronto Argonauts (running back-turned-coach-turned-) CEO Pinball Clemons ran under the headline “Canada’s Obama.” The story by Royson James examined the utterly bizarre suggestion that Clemons might be a good candidate for the leadership of the Liberal party.

Now, Barack Obama is a former president of the Harvard Law Review, community organizer and constitutional law professor who has spent the past 12 years in elected office and is likely to be the next leader of the free world, while Clemons is a retired athlete who excelled in a second-rate league, now runs the front office of a struggling team and who goes by the name “Pinball.” Given that, the comparison may seem strained to some people.

For their benefit, allow me to enumerate the similarities between the two: 1) Both have black fathers. 2) Neither is a Canadian citizen. 3) Both go by first names likely to induce teasing. 4) I already mentioned the black father thing, right?
