Coffee cups, street food, hybrid buses, garbage, recycling, public washrooms, street graffiti, deficits running wild. These days, our politicians' solution to a problem is usually worse than the problem.
To protest their newest highfalutin scheme, I suggest that when residents receive City Hall's new 24-page quarterly newsletter in the mail (at a cost of $800,000), they mark "return to sender" rather than trash it in the appropriately coloured bin. Maybe then, Toronto's civil service will realize who and what is the real waste.
Gary Topp, Toronto
Our mayor has managed to spend almost $1 million on his fluff piece to match the "Our Toronto" paper I just received. What an amazing way to make sure, due to his mismanagement of the blue box system, that a mere $300,000 of that will be recycled, and certainly not re-used. Oh the smell.
