There Is Still Only One Taxpayers...

...and I think the $1,5B would be better spent on filling the bellies and putting a roof over the head of children rather than this day care extension.

The deficits in Ottawa are being spent by the provinces, includng Ontario on its new $1.5B kindergarten plan

E

very now and then an idea fixes itself in the policy environment, even though it has no particular basis or justification. Such is the case with the notion, now apparently akin to a constitutional rule, that in the future Ottawa will not and must not cut transfers to the provinces. No matter how deep into the red the federal government might get, money sent off to provincial governments for health care and whatever is untouchable — even if, as the latest deficit projections show, Finance Minister Jim Flaherty is looking at red skies as far as the forecasting eye can see.
