I guess this is part of being a World Class Green City.

Police probe two separate murders in east end
CTV.ca News Staff

Kennedy subway station is closed for a police investigation after a man was found stabbed to death in a train car early Friday -- just four hours after another man was killed in a separate shooting incident.

Police have also closed Victoria Park station for the investigation.

Transit workers found the victim around 1:30 a.m. in an empty subway car at Kennedy station on the Bloor-Danforth line, reports The Canadian Press.

Police Staff Sgt. Caroline Glen said the victim, believed to be in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident.

Police would not comment on details of the stabbing or if a weapon was found. Investigators are now reviewing surveillance videotapes and searching subway tracks.

Shuttle buses are being used to transfer passengers during the morning commute.

Four hours earlier, around 10 p.m. Thursday, emergency crews attended to a man who had been shot in the stomach at an east end apartment building.

He later died after being rushed to Sunnybrook hospital. The name of the man, who was in his 30s, has not been released.

The deaths mark Toronto's 17th and 18th homicides this year.

Police are asking anyone with information about either case to contact police at 416-808-1900 or anonymously at 416-222-TIPS
