KITIGAN ZIBI ANISHNABEG ALGONQUIN 1ST NATION, Que. -- An aboriginal community in Quebec is reeling after their cultural centre was vandalized with swastikas and white supremacist graffiti overnight.
Kitigan Zibi's police chief, Gordon McGregor, says it's no coincidence that today is National Aboriginal Day.
Police say a group of people are likely the culprits, possibly from the neighbouring town of Maniwaki, Que.
However, McGregor says relations with the town are good, and the people in his community are "dumbfounded.''
Maniwaki Mayor Robert Coulombe says there have never been problems between the two communities, and he doubts the culprits are from the area.

What does "I have this gut feeling that the timing of the vandalism is suspicious" mean?
I have never heard of an incident on a reservation like this before. Does this mean that there never has been this type of vandalism or does it mean that normally an incident like this wouldn't get a couple of lines locally but here we have a major news
report, tv, radio, print media, and comments from B'nai Brith...ask yourself why.
Don't forget that both sides benefit from this type of publicity....
Ah... I see where you're going with this now, a 'round about way of saying "maybe they did it to themselves to get some media attention".
Why, those clever natives. Imagine vandalizing their own centre to gain sympathy. Is there no end to their guile?
Of course, an alternative explanation might be that racism in Canada is on the rise.
Man, what is the point of saying that? Its thinly veiled oppression. You put the seed in peoples minds that "hey, maybe they did it themselves..." You have absolutely no basis for this accusation, no evidence, the only reason to make it is to make yourself feel a little better, lessen your anger over it, maybe... I dunno.
Do you think 12 million Jews, gypsies, dissidents, and homosexuals up and killed themselves, because it was good for publicity? How about intellectuals in Cambodia? Or Ukrainians? Or the Irish? Good for publicity? Everybody benefits?
Is that not a possiblity?
Racism on the rise?
Possible...but let's not forget racism is colour blind.

How about the following seed....
"Police say a group of people are likely the culprits, possibly from the neighbouring town of Maniwaki, Que" or "Kitigan Zibi's police chief, Gordon McGregor, says it's no coincidence that today is National Aboriginal Day"
Do the tribal police have any proof?
Just curious. When a synagogue is vandalized, or a Jewish cemetery deface with swastikas, would you suspect it's actually being done by Jews to generate sympathy?
Well now, I see you've been blessed a visit from Bevis and Butthead, the dynamic Stagleft duo and officially deemed a hatemonger, congratulations, anytime these two bozo's appear you know you're doing a good job.
Sincerely, smarter than Balbullycan
Unhyphenated, may I respectuflly as if you have any comment on my last question? If a synagogue or Jewish cemetary were vandalized, would you suspect it had been done by Jews to generate sympathy?
Balbulican .... in answer to your question anything is possible. Every group has it's wingnuts that do things that defy logic and put the cause in jeopardy. Unless someone is actually arrested and convicted.....
All right. I will let you know if and when an arrest is made in this case, and if you see fit you can, at that point, apologize to the community for your insinuation.
