Council holds it together
Stops bickering to take portrait

Toronto's kindergarten councillors proved they're ready to graduate.
Members of council put their differences aside long enough yesterday to pose for a group photograph.
By contrast, an attempt to take the official council portrait fell apart in February.
In an event that seemed better suited to elementary school, Mayor David Miller called off the first photo shoot following a kerfuffle over who got spots in the front row.
Councillor Case Ootes, one of those embroiled in the controversy, said at the time that he refused to give up his spot in the front as a form of protest. The veteran politician complained about how Miller was exerting tight control over the running of council.
But Ootes said yesterday that he was happy to be in the second row for the latest effort.
"Everybody was in terrific humour. Everybody was cracking jokes," he said.
Councillor Maria Augimeri at one point told the Sun she did not plan to be part of the council photo.
But she did show up -- late, and was photographed separately. Councillor Shelley Carroll was off sick and unable to attend the photo shoot.
A city spokesman said steps will be taken to incorporate their images into the picture.
