What About Disrepair of Indoor Arenas

The Toronto Maple Leafs, making themselves useful for a change, have been chipping in to refurbish the city's aging outdoor hockey rinks. The most recent one to be fixed up is at midtown Ramsden Park — where, as a lad, I spent a good few stereotypically Canadian afternoons huffing and puffing after a hockey puck until I could barely drag my sorry arse home. And today, to celebrate the refurbishment, the Leafs held an outdoor practice in front of 700 fans, including students from two nearby public schools.

Well, that's just a soothing mug of hot chocolate, isn't it? Surely no one could find even the slightest bit of controversy in that story.

Ha!

It may be hard to believe that an arena in the heart of one of Toronto's wealthiest neighbourhoods had fallen into disrepair, but Mayor David Miller said the city audit of rinks showed this arena needed help the most.

"We do audits on all of our outdoor rinks," said Miller. "This one came up in the audit, the boards had deteriorated, the sides, the dressing rooms weren't adequate. It just happens the rink in Rosedale had been allowed to decline."

Yeah, right! I bet the whole crowd went to Galen Weston's house afterwards for champagne, strawberries and photos with Phil Kessel.

You gotta love Toronto, where class warfare and hockey go hand in hand.

I lean to the right but I still have a heart and if I have a mission it is to respond to attacks on people not available to protect themselves and to point out the hypocrisy of the left at every opportunity.MY MAJOR GOAL IS HIGHLIGHT THE HYPOCRISY AND STUPIDITY OF THE LEFTISTS ON TORONTO CITY COUNCIL. Last word: In the final analysis this blog is a relief valve for my rants/raves.
