The Glass Is Half Empty Schism

Enviro nuts blow smoke

Congratulations to Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Environment Minister Jim Prentice for receiving both the "Colossal Fossil" award and the most "Fossil of the Day" awards from the enviro nuts at the now-concluded Copenhagen climate summit.

Adrian MacNair: B.C. collects green award while emissions increase

Further to the blog entry I wrote on Saturday about the futility of the transportation carbon tax, Environment Canada has some damning new figures for the province of British Columbia.

As B.C. Premier Gordon Campbell was accepting an award in Copenhagen for introducing a carbon tax, Environment Canada released a report that shows the only province in Canada to report an increase in greenhouse gas emissions from major industries in 2008 was our own beautiful B.C.

These figures cover “facility greenhouse gas emissions”, which result from power plants and heavy industries such as mining, pulp and paper, natural gas and petroleum extraction. And guess what? Our province has increased these emissions thanks largely to oil and gas extraction, thanks to the Campbell government subsidies to oil and gas companies, which have produced record royalties in the past three years.

Climate negotiators: Do they practice what they preach?

Delegates to the Copenhagen conference say they live energy efficient lives — at home, anyway.

From steel mills to wind farms?
Climate change: Forget Copenhagen. What about Kuzumaki?
