Rob Ford, when asked if he would be attending this year's
pride parade in Toronto, said "I'm not going to go to the pride
parade. I've never been to a pride parade. So I'm not going to change
the way I am."

The mayor's remarks prompted criticism from the public and at least one fellow city councillor -- Shelley Carroll -- who accused him of "thinly veiled homophobia."Helen Kennedy, the executive director of Egale Canada, strongly disagreed with this assessment:
"There's nothing 'thinly veiled' about it. It's overt homophobia."Sure. And refusing to watch Jersey Shore reruns is overt heterophobia.
