Code Of Silence

"The victim was known to police and had been arrested in a gang sweep in January targeting the Project Originalz gang, which operates around Vanauley Walk" Why was he walking the streets and how many more of the gang members arrested during highly publicized sweeps are walking the streets.

18 shots fired, yet silence in murder

By JONATHAN JENKINS, SUN MEDIA

Frustrated homicide detectives are trying to kickstart a murder investigation that has had little help from the community -- despite the fact 18 bullets or more were fired down a Kensington Market street.

"Someone must have heard something," Det.-Sgt. Chris Buck said.

"We're asking people to come forward. Do the right thing for the right reasons," he said. "It's very frustrating -- people know and are not coming forward."

Yonathan Musse, 19, died in hospital four days after he was hit in the head on May 20, near Denison Ave. and Carr St.

Brass shell casings were scattered over a wide area along the street and vehicles parked along Carr were punctured with bullet holes.
