BLOGS BLUR MEDIA PRIVILEGE ARGUMENT

This pathetic attempt by some individuals to get their 15 minutes of fame is ludicrous. Calling themselves journalists is even more ludicrous. If you are paid for your literary efforts, which is different than being paid for providing a site for advertising, get press credentials for events, are on the payroll of a published publication (newspaper, magazine, radio, tv, etc.) then you might be a journalist. Otherwise you are just someone who has time on their hands..........

In an age of bloggers, giving journalists the right to protect the identity of sources could make it harder for police to gather evidence because almost anyone could claim to be a reporter, lawyers for Ontario's attorney general say.

There would be no limit to the number of people who could offer "evidentiary sanctuary" to criminals and witnesses by claiming a "media-source privilege," they argue in written submissions to the Ontario Court of Appeal.
